LETTERS OF CARDINAL KAROL WOJTYLA
TO ADAM STALONY-DOBRZAŃSKI

Krakow, 27 February 1964

Dear Professor,

A very great joy for us was this year's octave of prayers for Christian unity in the whole Archdiocese, especially at the Dominican Fathers Church in Krakow. I think this has been a joy that we all shared. These celebrations will remain in our memory as an expression of affinity and understanding in the common love for God's saving plan. The words of Christ the Lord’s prayer begging his Father for the unity of his disciples resonate in all of us with a more and more common meanings. Let them be heard as quickly as possible. I would like to thank you for the great contribution of your work in preparation of the octave and to greet you cordially.

In Christ the Lord

Dear Sir,

In connection with the year of Christian culture revival, I’d like to discuss the following two topics:

1. What is the extent of Christian inspiration’s impact on the contemporary visual arts?
2. What the Church could do to improve this inspiration's effectiveness?

For this purpose I cordially invite on 23 March, 17;00 hrs to the Residence, ul. Franciszkańska 3.

Dear Professor,

Thank you for your letter of 14 January and at the same time for your work for renovation of the polychrome in the parish church in Kozy. I’m glad that the work done by you, Dear Professor, and your associates, and consecrated last week, is in so beautiful harmony with the purpose of God’s House.

Along with these respects and cordial greetings I wish you good health, Professor, and many more murals in churches for the glory of God.
